The Cats away the Mice will Play!

Okay so Ryan left Friday and the rest of the boys left on Sunday for a Moose hunt! I'll admit I was a bit sad and not sure if I was ready for Ryan to leave knowing he could be gone for up to 7 days.

But I also knew I would have a lot of fun! Friday night my cousin and I stayed at my grandmothers. The two grand daughters and gram, a night of dinner, sewing, talking, eating and enjoying each others company. Saturday evening I got to spend time with 2 great kiddos while their parents enjoyed an evening out! Why not work a few etra hours while you husband is out of town? Followed by a night at mom and Dad's. Which is where I would spend the following 4 nights.

We had everything set up perfectly! 4 sewing machines two cutting boards, the radio and delicious food! Sunday evening I did a bit of sewing during Happy Hour. Monday night Gram and Bella came down for a sewing evening.

I worked on cutting sqaures and sewing them into strips. This is going to be a baby quilt which is all minkee, front and back although I probably won't do the binding in minkee.

Mom worked on cutting and piecing together big pieces of fabric for a "Turning Twenty" quilt

I made a "Winter Wonderland" wall hanging. This is isn't my favorite but maybe I will being to like it at some point.

Okay.....So I made two "Winter Wonderland" wall hangings. It was a kit of 4 and I got two done this weekend.

Tuesday night we had more company! My mother in-law came up to join us for dinner and some sewing time!

Now don't they all look like they are having a great time?

This is my quilt all put together. Minkee. It is extremly soft!

Big for a baby blanket but they will be able to it while they grow up also. But I was informed I need to get more minkee and make a carseat size quilt!

Mom and Carol got into the wine. Something about Orland Hill or something or other. But we found more amusment in the fact the the cover says OH. And how many different ways can 3 women say the word OH and make it sound so different each time.

And these two mother's of mine are trying to figure out something to do with mom's borders to her quilt.

And Mom calls this her "fugly" quilt. She does seem to like it but I think it will grow on her with time. The more we talk about the "fugly" quilt the more we talk about how it reminds me of my great grandmothers house. It will grow on her I'm sure!

So my weekend of fun with my mother doing lots of sewing is over. But I must say....just in to for a scheduled Shop Hop that starts today! I am off with 5 lovely ladies....My grandmother, my mother, my mother in-law, our dear friend Lynda and myself! We will be visiting 9 quilt shops within the next three days! And hopefully I remember to take my camera with me so I can write about it after!

Thursday

It's Thursday. The news isn't as good as last week when I lost 2.2 pounds but this week I gained a half pound.

I was sick last week hence why I lost such a big chunk of weight. This week I did not work out at all as I spent the week at my parents house and enjoyed some quality time sewing and chatting with my mother, grandmother, cousin and mother in-law.

So this week I am back on things and am paying more attention to my body and working out.

A sewing hour!

Some times I get to spend time in my sewing room while others there days there is absolutly no time in a day that I get to relax and sew.

So I went up to my sewing room and pulled out my scrap bin! I just started mixing and matching scraps together. One of this color, one of a different sewing them together.

And I just sat at my sewing machine and did some chain sewing! I just ran a set of scraps through one after the other till I ran out of time and had to go cook dinner.

And when I was all done I had lots of pairs!

This is a project I pull out at anytime. It is something I can work on for a small amount of time and put away. I just continue to sew together pairs and eventually I will sew the pairs into rows that will eventaully make a scrap quilt. This being built from so many scraps from all the other different quilts that I have put together in the past.

Way to Quilt

Okay, so while Ryan is away and hunting I might take a bit of time to my advantage! Isabella and I had a granddaughters sleepover at gram's house! We sewed, stayed up late, watched tv and enjoyed each others company!

I had a mission! Every time Autumn comes over she takes my kitchen towels out of the drawer and uses them to cover up her baby when he baby is cold, or so she says.

So I had a bunch of 5 inch squares left oer from a shop hop! So I layed them out on the floor and designed what could be used as a doll blanket for Autumn's Doll's

Isn't this just sweet! I now just need to trim it and put the binding on!

And not only did I make one! I made 2! This means Autumn gets a blanket for her dolls at home and also a blanket for her dolls at "Auntie's" House.

And did I mention I even machine quilted them. I put the blanket on my machine and quilted it! Well both of them.

This is a new experience for me as I had never done any free motion quilting with my machine. It was kind of fun to do some free motion quilting and being able to do a complete project on my own with my machine!

I made some mistakes in my machine quilting but it will take some practice. I will say that I may try machine quilting something again in the future!

It's Thursday

Thursday!!!!

And my scale says down 2.2 pounds! I am super excited today. Yes I have been sick for a couple of days but I am still excited with 2 pounds lost.

For the record. This is the LOWEST weight I have been at since Ryan and I started dating! So I guess I just have some reason to be a bit happy this morning. With a click of my heels I'm off and going again!

A busy Kitchen

This past week my kitchen has been swamped! I have been working on painting the outside of the house along with many other things.

I had an abundance of tomatoes. From my farmshare and also from my grandparents house. So I got to freeze them and use them for a future cold day in the winter where I can pull it out and make a nice warm batch of tomato soup.

Zucchini bread galore!

I made four loaves. 3 of which made it into the freezer. The other one got confiscated by that loving husband of mine for him to eat.

The garden surplus!

Ahhhhhh...

Gram had an over abundance of cucumbers.

So we made batch number 2 of pickles!

The look so yummy

And her tomatoes were also of abundance. So all these guys found room in my freezer to be used during the cold winter months for spegetti sauce!
